Large-format tiles only look right when the floor underneath is right. Prep, layout, and flatness — all of it matters. The Hale Barns epoxy grout project is a good example of how I approach this kind of work.
On jobs like these, the finishing is where I spend as much care as anywhere else. Exposed edges are mitred for a clean, sharp corner — no plastic trim pieces. Cuts are precise and consistent throughout. If there's tiled skirting involved, the returns are cut and finished the same way. It takes longer, but the result looks right.
SEE IT IN PRACTICE
Check out how we handled this on a real project:

Large-format porcelain tiles laid across the full ground floor of a modernised family home in Hale Barns. Mechanical levelling throughout, epoxy grout for a stain-resistant finish, tiled skirting and a seamlessly flat result across all interconnecting rooms.

Understanding how mechanical levelling clips ensure flat, lippage-free tiling installations and why they're worth the investment.
